For me it doesn matter that much as I am a new team and everything is new in this league. Will there be 2 divisions of 3? How will the gamedays go?
This season we played 6 IPL games. Why not divide us in 2 divisions like NHL east west and we play 1 game against everyone. Some you face only on away game some only at home. And then divisional finals and IPL championship final after that?
The schedule next season will be the same as last season (and very similar to your suggestion). There are 2 divisions with 4 teams each. The regular season last 6 games.
Four games are within the division. One against each team plus a second game between the two division neighbours (1. vs 2., 3. vs 4.). In addition there are two games against teams of the other division (1. vs 1. and 1. vs 2.; 3. vs 3. and 3. vs 4.).
Each team has three home and three away games.
(The placings in brackets reflect the place a team has in the table after the draw. Not at the time of the games in the season.)
In the playoffs, the 1st of one division meets the 2nd of the other division.
The 3rd and 4th of the two divisions play in the placement round in Round Robin.
Because of that I asked if I should divide the not seeded teams in two draw pots. Otherwise there can be one division with the four strongest teams. But maybe this is what will be interisting about the IPL?
